A normal trait – not a disorder

What is a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP)?
Due to the distinctive makeup of their nervous system, Highly Sensitive Persons (HSPs) process sensory information unusually thoroughly and reflect on it deeply. If you are an HSP, you notice so much at once that it is easy to become overstimulated (and at times overwhelmed) if you receive sensory information that is intense, complex, chaotic or even just new to you.
As a HSP myself, I am passionate about assisting other HSPs (children of all ages and adults of different backgrounds) to understand their innate deep sensitivity and work with them towards living a healthy and productive life as a HSP. I spent many hard- fought years of my own life ‘trying’ to fix myself however since becoming aware of the HSP trait through Elaine Aaron’s work, my life improved dramatically and led me to a career change in an effort to help others.
Knowing you are not alone and that sensitivity is not some type of disorder that needs to be cured is a welcome relief and provides a good place to start to begin to work ‘with’ our sensitivity.

A HSP’s response to Counselling, Coaching, Natural Medicine and Hypnotherapy
From working with many HSPs in my clinics and as a Natural Therapist I have found that gentle, subtle, less invasive complementary medicines are helpful and favourable to HSPs’ sensitive systems. The body possesses an innate ability to heal itself. Approaches used by herbalists to overcome illness are those that restore and promote the body’s own normal and optimal function. I provide guidance and natural medicines (Tissue Salts, Flower Remedies and Crystal / Gem Elixirs) personalised to an individual’s needs after a consultation.
For counselling and coaching, being a HSP myself enables me to deeply connect, relate, understand, and provide guidance and options for you to consider. My ethos is to work from the premise of non-judgement, respect, listening, and non-attachment. I believe the ultimate gift we have all been given is free will and choice. Often in the presence of another HSP we can feel safe which allows us to express all the things we need to, or would like to. This works well in therapy when the therapist is a HSP, we may develop a sense of comfort which allows us to go to the corners of our mind and soul; and then express ourselves, which in itself can be healing just to get it out, acknowledge what is there and to be heard!
As all hypnosis is self-hypnosis (the therapist voice is used to guide you through) I have found that HSPs, once they have decided on a change and use hypnotherapy as the therapy to do so, the results are very favourable. I have observed that our sensitivity trait allows us to receive the hypnosis deeply and the outcome is often very beneficial and energetically shifting. From experience as a natural therapist, hypnotherapy and HSP’s are mostly a very good match.
